Agiye Hall was dressed and on the sideline for Texas‘ season-opener against ULM Saturday night following an indefinite suspension stemming from a summer arrest. While he didn’t play, head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the form Alabama transfer’s status moving forward.

“Agiye Hall is back with the team, which we’re excited to have,” Sarkisian said. “It’s great to be have him back, and going with us and have him be a part of our program. Proud of the work he did to get himself back.”

Last month, Hall was arrested in Travis County (Texas), where the Sheriff’s Office charged him with criminal mischief between $100 and $750. That was following an incident right before he entered the transfer portal when Alabama head coach Nick Saban suspended him as well, saying Hall violated team rules.

Now, he’s back and will try to earn his way back into the rotation and prove why he was a top-50 player in the Class of 2021, per the On3 Consensus.

Another player Sarkisian updated the status of following Saturday’s win was tight end Jahleel Billingsley. The senior out of Chicago served the first of a six-game suspension. Sarkisian shared after the game that his suspension was handed down by the NCAA and was not given out by Texas or his former school, Alabama. Sarkisian also added that the suspension was not related to any legal issues, and was not something that occurred as a result of his time with Texas.

“Texas coach Steve Sarkisian announced that previously suspended wide receiver Agiye Hall is back with the team. Also said Alabama transfer tight end Jahleel Billingsley is serving a six-game suspension. Sark said it stems from something that occurred at his previous stop, not Texas,” detailed The Athletic‘s Sam Khan Jr.

“Sarkisian added that it’s an NCAA suspension, not from Alabama or Texas. Saturday was the first game Billingsley has served, he has five more games to sit out before he can return to action.”

The suspension means Texas will be without his talents for some of their biggest games of the year, beginning with Alabama next week. From there, Texas will have home games against UTSA and West Virginia, a road game against Texas Tech, and then finally the Red River Showdown vs. Oklahoma. The first game that Billingsley will be eligible for is when Texas hosts Iowa State on Oct. 15.

Maybe by then, Hall could be a regular fixture in the Longhorns offense, though it might take Billingsley a little longer to work his way back.
