Texas has offered Uniontown (Pa.) Laurel Highlands four-star athlete Rodney Gallagher.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Gallagher as the No. 91 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle.

He is also the fourth-best athlete in the class behind Saint Louis (Mo.) IMG Academy five-star prospect Samuel M’Pemba, Heathsville (Va.) Northumberland four-star prospect Cameron Seldon and Temple (Texas) four-star prospect Mikal Harrison-Pilot

Only Reading (Pa.) Wyomissing four-star offensive lineman Jven Williams ranks ahead of him from the state of Pennsylvania.

Rodney Gallagher was also considering playing college basketball, but announced he would focus his post-high school career on football only in December.

He told Ryan Snyder of BWI that the decision was difficult but he is excited for his future.

“A lot of it has to do with AAU and how busy that schedule is. It’s hard to do that kind of schedule and also get out and visit these schools and put the time in that I need to do this process right,” Gallagher said. “But also, a lot of basketball coaches just knew that I had football in my back pocket. I feel like a lot of basketball coaches didn’t want to deal with a two-sport athlete nowadays, because they know they can move on quick with the transfer portal and all that kind of stuff.”
