Five-star Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle tight end Duce Robinson was all set for his official visit to Texas on Saturday. And then Mother Nature had plans of its own.

Pinnacle’s game on Friday night was postponed due to lighting and had to be played on Saturday, eliminating the chance for Robinson to get on a flight to Austin. The trip was expected to be his first to see the Longhorns, who have come on strong as late contender in his recruitment, joining Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and USC.

On the latest edition of On3’s The Inside Scoop recruiting show, director of recruiting Chad Simmons said that he confirmed Robinson will be rescheduling his visit and plans to make it to Austin sometime this fall.

A date isn’t currently set, but the weekends of Sept. 24, October 7, and November 11 are already accounted for, with official visits set to Georgia, Alabama and Oregon, respectively. Robinson already took an official visit to USC over the summer.

The Trojans are currently considered the leader in the race to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). It gives USC a 62.8 percent chance of securing his commitment, with Texas (26.9%) trailing behind. Robinson has yet to announce any semblance of a decision timeline and could take his recruiting all the way to the Early Signing Period in December.

“I have never had a true timeline for a commitment, but after my visits, I will hopefully know,” he told Simmons last month. “I am not sure when I will announce it, but at least when I finish my official visits, I hope to know silently where I am going.”

Duce Robinson Scouting Summary

“Jumbo athlete with a large catch radius who looks like one of the better tight end prospects over the last few recruiting cycles. Has outstanding statue and length at over 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds with a 6-foot-10 wingspan. Plays and moves like a receiver at that size. A smooth, fluid mover who showed continued improvement in top-end play speed as a junior, running away from defensive backs. Has one of the largest catch radiuses in the 2023 cycle and consistently wins in contested situations.

… Was the top pass-catcher at the Opening Finals prior to his junior season and created a considerable mismatch over the middle of the field. Turned in a very productive junior season with close to 1,000 receiving yards. Has an outstanding multi-sport profile as one of the nation’s top baseball prospects and also plays basketball. Will need to continue getting stronger to aid in blocking, but has the look of an elite tight end prospect with five-star upside.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
