Texas star Timmy Allen and his brother — New Mexico State star Teddy Allen — both were getting buckets during the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament. While Timmy Allen helped the Longhorns to victory with a 14 point performance against Virginia Tech, his brother Teddy Allen balled-out to the tune of 37 points in the Aggies’ upset over Connecticut.

Over recent seasons, the brothers have argued over the rightful owner of the nickname “Buckets.” Timmy goes by Timmy Buckets, Teddy goes by Teddy Buckets. Both brothers get buckets. So, naturally there’s a controversy regarding who’s the rightful recipient of the sought-after nickname.

After both brothers found victories in their games, Timmy Allen addressed the situation regarding Teddy Allen stealing what he believes to be his nickname.

“First of all, it’s great to see him rocking out,” started Allen. “He’s got an interesting story. A lot people got a lot of things to say a lot about him. But he’s good. He’s showing that none of that means nothing. So it’s great to see him hooping.

“The story is I was the original Timmy Buckets. It’s been my Twitter handle since like seventh grade or something like that. Then, he started going crazy — and he just went to Teddy Buckets. So either/or, but we both get to the basket, for sure.”

At the end of the day, both brothers will take the nickname and run with it. According to Timmy, Teddy was always buckets — but it wasn’t until recently he evolved into Teddy Buckets.

“They kind of always called him a bucket, but now it’s Teddy Buckets,” added Timmy Allen. “I don’t even know, but it fits.”

Regardless of their nickname battle, both brothers are elated to see the other showing their abilities on the biggest stage in college basketball.

Moreover, Teddy Allen was seen dancing and celebrating multiple times during the game against Connecticut. While many believes Timmy Allen is more reserved than his brother, the Texas star says not so fast.

“I wouldn’t say reserved, I don’t know. He’s just a little more outspoken, but that’s who he is, he like to have fun,” stated Timmy Allen. “Have you seen the interview of the game? That’s exactly who he is all the time. I don’t know, I’m definitely a fun guy.”

Additionally, a teammate added that Timmy Allen actually has his own dance. Perhaps if Texas continues on, he’ll break it out.

Finally, Timmy Allen realizes its special to see two brothers thriving on the highest level in the sport they love.

“It’s special. Me and my brother think it’s already written, whatever happens going to happen. For me, it’s special to see him thrive because been through so much, and for him to see me hooping with Texas here in the tournament is special because this is my first time and it’s the first time we’ve both been together,” stated Timmy Allen. “So, it’s really fun for us. We’re just soaking it all up, just trying to live another day.”

Unfortunately, Teddy Allen was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament — falling to Arkansas in the 2nd Round on Saturday. Timmy Allen will look to avoid the same fate for his Texas Longhorns, as the program takes on Purdue on Sunday at 8:40 PM ET on TNT.
