Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge four-star tight end Joey Olsen has committed to USC. He chose the Trojans over multiple programs including Penn State, Oregon and Washington.

Olsen is the No. 189 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Oregon.

On3 rates Olsen higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, Olsen is the No. 147 overall prospect and No. 6 tight end.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me throughout this process,” Olsen wrote in a statement published on social media. “I’m excited to announce that I will be committing to the University of Southern California! Fight on.”

The Oregon native took an unofficial visit to USC on June 20. He is now the fourth member of the Trojans’ 2024 recruiting class. The group’s other members include Calabasas (Calif.) four-star cornerback Aaron Butler, Long Beach (Calif.) Long Beach Poly four-star linebacker Dylan Williams and Houston (Texas) Long Beach Poly four-star wide receiver Jason Robinson.

Throughout his first two games this season, Olsen has six receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Last year, he recorded 28 catches for 727 yards and seven touchdowns. His best game came in a 28-27 loss to West Linn (Ore.) last October, in which he reeled in three passes for 163 yards and a touchdown.

In addition to seeing USC, Olsen took three other unofficial visits. Two of them were to Oregon on June 17 and Jan. 29. He also took a trip to Oregon State on April 16.

Olsen has an On3 NIL Valuation of $13.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
