The Vanderbilt Commodores suffered a big loss in Saturday’s game against the Missouri Tigers. Missouri linebacker Kane Patterson was injured in the first half and did not return to the game.

In the third quarter, Taylor Davis of the SEC Network updated fans on his injury status coming out of halftime. He has been officially ruled out vs. Missouri and will not be available for the foreseeable future.

“Yeah guys, Vanderbilt injury update after the first half. Kane Patterson who went down in that first half. Came back out after halftime on crutches and a substantial brace. Obviously, he is not available the rest of this game. Definitely a blow for this Vanderbilt defense. Multiple teammates walked him out of the locker room. Coaches were very somber giving me the news. I know how important he is and he will not be available for the foreseeable future,” Davis said in the third quarter of the Missouri vs. Vanderbilt matchup.

In the past two seasons for the ‘Dores, Patterson has racked up 61 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

Before joining the Commodores in 2022, he played his first three years of college football for the Clemson Tigers.

In the 2020-2021 campaign, Patterson played in 12 games at Clemson, totaling 17 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

In his three-year Clemson career, Patterson had 32 tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, and a fumble recovery.

Coming out of high school, Patterson originally chose Clemson over offers from Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and others.

Without Patterson, Vanderbilt lost to Missouri 38-21

Missouri ended up prevailing 38-21 on Saturday night.

The Tigers ended up scoring 21 unanswered points, thanks to the dynamic connection of Brady Cook and Luther Burden. Burden once again proved to be unstoppable, hauling in 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. It’s the fourth straight 100-yard receiving game for the former five-star plus+ wideout. Cook torched the Commodore secondary to the tune of 395-passing yards (career-high), while tossing in four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Burden is the highest ranked receiver to sign for Missouri since Dorial Green-Beckham and there’s no question he’s got the potential to become one of the greatest wideouts in Mizzou football history.

Vanderbilt had to have been pleased with the performance on their wideout, Will Sheppard, who hauled in five catches for 98 receiving yards and a touchdown. Vanderbilt quarterback Ken Seals also threw some pretty deep balls, connecting on 64.5% of his passes for 259 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and just one interception. He also tacked on a rushing touchdown.
