Wisconsin Badgers cornerback Jay Shaw has declared for the 2023 NFL Draft, he announced via Instagram on Thursday afternoon.

“I always dreamed of the day I would be writing one of these so before I go any further let me thank God for being in position to fulfill one of my childhood dreams,” Shaw said. “As I embark on this new journey in my life I would like to thank everyone who has had an influence on my journey up until this date.

“I am forever grateful for the impact that you all have had on my life. For my 9 year old self who once told my mom ‘Ok fine. I’ll get my degree but I am going to play in the NFL.’ It’s time to fulfill this statement. For the kid that dreams may you never open your eyes as your outlook on the world will always be different. Instead force the world to see what you see.

“With that being said I am proud to announce that I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft to further pursue my career as a professional football player.

“All Glory to God!”

Shaw only spent one season with Wisconsin, originally playing for the UCLA Bruins. While in Madison, the cornerback played in all 12 games, recording 32 tackles, an interception, and six pass breakups.
