The Woodlands (Texas) four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer announced his commitment to Wisconsin on Saturday. He chose the Badgers over Kansas State and North Carolina.

Mettauer is the No. 312 overall prospect and No. 22 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 46 player in Texas.

“I am grateful for the opportunities that I’ve been blessed with!” Mettauer wrote in a statement published to social media. “With lots of prayer, I have decided to follow @CoachFick and @CoachPhilLongo to the Big 10 where I will look forward to playing in the Air Raid! Glory to God! Let’s go BADGER NATION!!”

The 6-foot-5.5, 228-pound signal-caller took an unofficial visit to Madison on Sept. 10. That day, Wisconsin fell 17-14 to Washington State.

Mettauer is the second member of the Badgers’ 2024 recruiting class alongside Hazel Crest (Ill.) Marian Catholic wide receiver Austin Alexander. This cycle, Wisconsin has signed Broomfield (Colo.) three-star quarterback Cole LaCrue — the No. 900 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus — and earned a commitment from Oklahoma transfer Nick Evers, a former four-star signal-caller.

A Lone Star State native, Mettauer has an On3 NIL Valuation of $37K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
