Wisconsin DB Ricardo Hallman announces decision to return to Badgers for 2024 season

The Wisconsin Badgers football program got a massive boost for their defense on Wednesday afternoon. Defensive back Ricardo Hallman announced that he’s returning to school for one more year. He snatched seven interceptions last season.

Last season, Hallman racked up 34 tackles and seven interceptions for the Badgers. He also had five pass breakups and one touchdown. In 2022, he tallied one interception for Wisconsin.

In high school, Hallman played his senior season at TRU Prep Academy after University School’s season was cancelled. He was named South Florida Sun Sentinel first-team all-county as a junior for University School. he snatched eight interceptions and tallied 17 tackles his junior year. A dynamic athlete, Hallman competed in track and field and owns the school record in the 4 x 100-meter relay time (42.12).

Wisconsin finished 7-6 in the 2023 campaign, losing to LSU 35-31 in the ReliaQuest Bowl in an absolute classic. It was without a doubt, one of the best bowl games of the college football bowl season this year. Badgers quarterback Tanner Mordecai completed 27 of 40 passes for 378 yards, while tossing in three touchdowns with no interceptions. Wisconsin had two receivers haul in over 100 receiving yards, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

Ricardo Hallman returns to Wisconsin, More on the 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.

The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.

The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
