Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady was known for his signature ‘let’s go’ scream towards the crowd to hype up the stadium before games during his legendary career. Energy that clearly runs in the family.

UCLA softball shortstop Maya Brady is Brady’s niece, and on Saturday following UCLA’s win over Stanford, she showed Tom isn’t the only one who can bring some high-level intensity at the right time.

The Bruins’ win on Saturday marked the 800th career victory for head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez. A milestone that Brady clearly wanted to celebrate on the bus after the game in an electric announcement that can be seen below.

Brady took the microphone on UCLA’s team bus following the win and made it known that the fireworks seen the night before following Stanford’s Friday victory over Oregon on the baseball diamond were not for the Cardinal. But for Inouye-Perez following the major milestone in her career. Shouting the news to her teammates which was followed by a celebration on the bus that will be remembered by UCLA’s coaches, players, and staff for many years.

Inouye-Perez is in the midst of her 18th season at the helm for the Bruins, coaching at her alma mater after playing catcher for the Bruins in and helping lead UCLA to three National Championship wins as a player and two as a head coach. Named to the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.

As a player she earned All-Pac-10 First-Team honors once and Second-Team honors twice, also named to the All-Women’s College World Series Team in 1992 after betting.417 four RBIs during WCWS play on her way to a third national championship. Tied for third-best in UCLA history after playing in 22 Women’s College World Series games in her career.

The Bruins made seven NCAA title game appearances with three national championship wins during her 13 seasons on UCLA’s coaching staff as an assistant before she was promoted to head coach in 2007. Helping lead them to yet another national championship victory in her fifth season at the helm. Which she followed with her second ring in 2019 after leading the team to an impressive 56–6 record (the best of her head coaching career).

Brady has added to her own UCLA legacy during her impressive career, named the Pac-12 Player of the Year last season after earning the conference’s batting crown with a .456 batting average during the regular season. Also named a First-Team All-American twice in her career and a top-three finalist for USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year last season.

Inouye-Perez earned win No. 801 on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Stanford to complete the series sweep. As herself, Brady, and the Bruins will take on Long Beach State on Tuesday in their next matchup.
