Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers commented after their game against the Minnesota Vikings, discussing an injury that has bothered him. Rodgers has been dealing with a painful toe injury and continued to feel the effects during the Packers 34-31 loss to the Vikings.

Aaron Rodgers’ toe injury

During his postgame media appearance, Rodgers was asked what exactly the injury to his toe was. Rodgers was asked if it was causing him any issues and if it was similar to a turf toe injury that receiver Davante Adams suffered from a couple of years prior.

“No, and I’ve had turf toe. It’s a little worse than turf toe,” Rodgers answered. “I’m just gonna have to get to the bye, and hope I get some healing over the bye week. Probably the same schedule next week. I was in a lot of pain, went into halftime early to get it checked out. Yeah, it’s very very painful. Got stepped on [in the] first half, that kinda activated all the symptoms I was having. It’s gonna be another painful week next week and hopefully start to feel a little better on the bye.”

Despite the painful injury, Rodgers had an impressive performance in the Packers’ loss. Rodgers ended the game with 385 yards passing and four touchdowns without an interception.

Rodgers exited the field early for halftime

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed a spot-on touchdown pass to Josiah Deguara ahead of the half before jogging into the locker room and missing the kneel down.

The Packers drove down the field for a nine-play, 74-yard touchdown drive, capped by Rodgers’ 25-yard pass to Deguara. It was the second-year Packers tight end’s first career touchdown.

After the extra point, which put the Rodgers and the Pack down by six, the reigning NFL MVP headed for the locker room. However, with 30 seconds left, the defense held Minnesota to a three-and-out.

Instead of getting back out onto the field, Rodgers’ back up Jordan Love checked in for the kneel at the Green Bay 35-yard line.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was optimistic about Rodgers health coming into their game against the Vikings.

“He looked good throwing the football,” LaFleur said Friday. “I’m confident he’ll be in a good place on Sunday.”
