LOOK: AJ Brown calls out Tennessee Titans after Deebo Samuel contract reveal
Philadelphia Eagles receiver AJ Brown called out his former team, the Tennessee Titans, after seeing Deebo Samuel’s contract extension. The former Ole Miss football star was drafted by the Titans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and began his career there. This offseason, Brown was pursuing a contract extension that would put him on par with other top receivers around the league and received what he called a “low offer” from the Titans.
Instead of negotiating a new deal for Brown, Tennessee made the decision to trade their young star to the Eagles for the 18th and 101st overall picks of the 2022 NFL Draft. Brown maintained that he wanted to stay with the team, but felt the Titans were never serious about paying him what he felt he was worth.
After the San Francisco 49ers gave Samuel a major extension worth similar money that Brown had been seeking, Brown took to social media to call out his former team over their decision.

“Basically all 4 of us got the same contract and I’m the only one got traded,” said Brown after Samuel’s contract was revealed. “Yeah keep believing it was me. Anywho Go Birds.”
Clearly there was no love lost between Brown and the Titans after Samuel’s extension was revealed, as Brown pointed out that the amount he was seeking was exactly what every other high-profile receiver was given.
The Eagles offered Brown a four-year extension when he was traded, worth $100 million and including $57 million guaranteed. With Samuel’s deal announced on Sunday, he is now the 11th wide receiver to make over $20 million this season.
“This wasn’t my fault,” Brown said via ESPN after his trade. “I wanted to stay, but the deal they offered was a low offer.”
While his situation in Philadelphia might be as good, if not better than the one he was in with the Titans, it’s evident from Brown’s comments that he will take a long time to get over his exit from his first NFL team.
