GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Former Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson is coming home next weekend to give back to his Gainesville community. Richardson will host a youth football camp on June 21 in his hometown and it’s free to the public.

The Anthony Richardson Football Skills Academy, hosted by the Anthony Richardson Foundation, is open to ages 6-16 and takes place next Saturday at Citizens Field. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the camp will begin at 9. Online registration is available HERE.

The free one-day academy aims to teach leadership, discipline and personal growth through high-level athletic training and character-building experiences. Over 250 athletes are expected to attend as Richardson looks to sharpen their skills on and off the field.

“This is about more than football. It’s about showing kids that with hard work, discipline, and the right support, they can achieve anything on the field and in life,” Anthony Richardson said in a press release. “I want them to walk away from this experience believing in themselves and knowing they have a team behind them.”

The event will include a Parent Summit, hosted by LaShawnda Cleare, Richardson’s mother. The summit, “Navigating the Journey of Parenting Athletes,” will provide parents with valuable resources and expert insights in key areas that impact families of aspiring athletes, including financial literacy, mental health and legal services.

Richardson grew up in Gainesville and played for Eastside High School before attending the University of Florida. He spent three seasons with the Gators and became the starting quarterback in 2022 under first-year coach Billy Napier.

Richardson had 2,549 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions, throwing 12 TDs against two picks in his last six games. He also finished second on the team in rushing touchdowns (9) and third in rushing yards (654).

Richardson produced the most total yards (515) by a UF quarterback in an SEC game in program history. He turned pro after his junior season and was selected No. 4 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Richardson suffered a season-ending injury as a rookie. He dealt with injuries in 2024 but returned as QB1 in Week 11, leading the Colts to three wins before missing the last two games with back spasms.

Richardson completed 67% of his passes for a career-high 272 yards, one touchdown and added two rushing scores, including the game-winner in the final minute, to beat the New York Jets, 28–27. In Week 13, Richardson orchestrated a 19-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, capped off with a go-ahead two-point conversion with under 15 seconds left as Indy rallied to win 25–24 over the New England Patriots.
