Baltimore Ravens make surprising coaching decision

One of the best duos in the NFL is calling it quits after nearly a decade of working together. In a surprising turn of events, the Baltimore Ravens and defensive coordinator Don Martindale have agreed to part ways. Martindale has been with the Ravens since 2012 and has been their defensive coordinator for the past four years; helping to lead them to four straight playoff appearances and two AFC North titles in the past four years.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh released a statement on Baltimore’s decision to part ways with their longtime defensive coach.

“After several productive conversations, Don and I have agreed to move forward in separate directions. We have had a great run on defense, and I am very proud of what has been accomplished and the work he has done. Don has been a major contributor to the success of our defense since 2012, and especially since he became defensive coordinator four years ago. He has done a great job. Now it is time to pursue other opportunities. Sometimes the moment comes, and it’s the right time. I am personally grateful for our friendship and for everything he has done in Baltimore.” said Harbaugh.

Bosa back for the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers lost defensive end Nick Bosa early in their Wild Card win against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday due to a concussion.

Don Kleiman reported Friday Bosa has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and will play on Saturday. Bosa did not get a chance to fully disrupt the Cowboys’ offense as he would have loved to. But his 49ers did pick up a 23-17 win over the Cowboys.

Up next for San Franciso is a rematch of a Week 3 showdown with the Packers. San Francisco was able to take the lead late in the fourth quarter with 37 seconds left in the regular-season contest. But Aaron Rodgers led Green Bay into position for the game-winning field goal and went on to win 30-28.
