Best free agency team fit for Davante Adams

It’s a huge offseason for the Green Bay Packers, and one reason is Davante Adams’ impending free agency. He’s sure to generate interest across the league, but one team, especially, could make sense — and it’s a surprising one.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen suggested the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential fit for Adams. It’s not entirely far-fetched, though, considering he and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr have a history. The two played at Fresno State together from 2011-13 and went in the same NFL Draft.
“Adams is the best free agent in years, and plenty of teams will apply pressure,” Fowler wrote. “If Adams wants familiarity and contention, the Raiders can offer Fresno State teammate Derek Carr and a playoff roster.”
Las Vegas was one of the surprise teams to make the playoffs this year, especially considering Jon Gruden’s in-season resignation and Henry Ruggs III’s release after a DUI charge. But Carr was a big reason why the Raiders were able to make the Divisional Round, where they lost to the eventual AFC-champion Cincinnati Bengals.
Bowen brought up how Adams would fit in the system under new head coach Josh McDaniels. It would also give Carr as strong No. 1 receiver to pair with Hunter Renfrow, who emerged as the season went on.

“A scheme-transcendent wide receiver, Adams fits as the top target for Carr in Vegas, with new coach Josh McDaniels’ offense featuring defined throws and isolation matchups for Adams to potentially win,” Bowen wrote.
NFL insider Dan Graziano addresses how Aaron Rodgers decision impacts Davante Adams
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has developed a strong connection with Davante Adams over the past several seasons. But with questions swirling about Rodgers’ future with the franchise this offseason, the dynamic duo is in danger of splitting up.
The Packers quarterback must make his decision before the 2022 season officially begins March 16. However, with Green Bay considering a franchise tag for Adams, for which the deadline is March 8, it is likely to come sooner.
In a recent TV appearance, ESPN insiders Dan Graziano and Jeff Saturday discussed how that affects Adams.
“I think they definitely need to know something by March 8, which is the last day they can designate a franchise player,” Graziano said. “With Davante Adams set for free agency, they’re gonna wanna know what they’re gonna do with Davante Adams. He’s going to want to know who the quarterback is gonna be if he’s gonna sign back there, or sign his franchise tender or hold out. That’s the key date. Realistically, they have to know in time to figure out what to do with Davante Adams.”
