WATCH: Brian Robinson makes welcomed return to Washington Commanders facility following shooting incident
Washington Commanders running backs coach Randy Jordan called it a “sight for sore eyes.” That about summed up the mood when Brian Robinson returned to the team facility on Tuesday.
The Commanders posted pictures and a video of Robinson — on crutches with a bandage on his right knee — back in the facility just a few days after he was the victim of a shooting during an attempted robbery. But despite all he’s been through this week, he was smiling as he made his return to be with his teammates.
But rookie duties are rookie duties. Even after the incident, the former Alabama star remembered to bring snacks for the running backs room. So, he showed up with a box of Oreos in his hand.

The incident occurred Sunday in Washington, D.C. and Robinson was reportedly shot in the glute and lower leg. His prognosis was good, all things considered, and now he’s out and about following surgery.
The Commanders drafted Robinson with the No. 98 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As a fifth-year senior in 2021, Robinson rushed for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns to help Alabama to the national championship game — an eventual 33-18 loss to Georgia. He also got involved in the passing game, catching 35 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns.
Nick Saban sends message to Brian Robinson
During a press conference on Monday, one day after the incident, Alabama coach Nick Saban shared a message of support for his former star running back.
“Our thoughts and prayers are out to B-Rob and his family. I did reach out to him. I didn’t get him, so we texted him,” Saban said. “B-Rob has done really, really well. I think he’s doing well, relative to the information that we have, even to the point where they think he may be able to come back and play at some point this season. So we’re hopeful for that, keep our fingers crossed.
“We’re just glad that this is not something that is critical to his future, or putting his life in jeopardy in the short term.”
