Brian Schottenheimer invites Cowboys greats, Super Bowl winners to speak with 2025 Dallas roster
Brian Schottenheimer is looking to Dallas Cowboys legends to inspire the current team to make a Super Bowl run. The Cowboys head coach recently talked about how 25 former Cowboys players from different eras visited the team facilities on May 30 for organized team activities. Schottenheimer wants to see more Cowboys legends visit the team while wearing their Super Bowl rings.
“I think the more those guys are around, the more we see their Super Bowl rings, which they wear very proudly, I think that’s great for our guys because that’s why we do it,” Brian Schottenheimer said, per Todd Archer of ESPN. We don’t hide from that.”
Schottenheimer believes the young players on the roster can learn from the legends who have championship experience. “There’s such great tradition and history here with the Cowboys, and you talk about not just the Super Bowl trophies, but some of the great players,” Schottenheimer said. “We wanted them to kind of see our energy and our juice, the way we like to operate. They paved the way for the guys that sit in those chairs today.
Brian Schottenheimer says Cowboys legends are ‘part of our family’
“I mean, they’re part of our family. It’s like having an uncle or grandfather, in some cases, that you can use as a sounding board. You can use as a mentor. Are they going to be friends? Hell, I hope so. But if they’re not, there’s experiences that they can garner from the likes of Randy White, Bob Lilly, Michael Irvin, Dat Nguyen.”

The Cowboys haven’t played in the Super Bowl since the team won the big game during the 1995 season. They also haven’t played in a conference championship game since the last Super Bowl title.
In the last 30 years, Dallas has reached the playoffs 13 times and have either lost in the wild-card or divisional round. Schottenheimer became the head coach this offseason after spending the last two years as the team’s offensive coordinator.
The outlook for the Cowboys in 2025 hasn’t been strong. In Athlon Sports’ NFL Preview magazine, Dallas is predicted to finish third in the NFC East behind the Washington Commanders and the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.
