Carolina Panthers release former Alabama OL Deonte Brown amid multiple cuts ahead of deadline

One could argue today is annually the grimmest day in the NFL. With teams needing to finalize rosters and whittle their locker room down to 53 official players, that means cuts. Hundreds of them across the League. Which means hundreds of players having their dreams slashed.
With that said, the Carolina Panthers waived or cut nine players so far. One of which is a former prominent Alabama player: offensive lineman Deonte Brown, who started 26 career games with the Crimson Tide.
He’ll be looking for a new home, along with these other eight guys that have been cut. At least according to The Athletic’s Panthers reporter Joe Person. Anyway, here was the list of guys Person tweeted had been released by the team so far on Tuesday:

Unfortunate news for those nine (and maybe a few more before the 4:00 p.m. deadline). However, several of those guys will likely end up on the practice squad. Which isn’t quite like being on the team, but in a way, is. You’re still in the locker room, at practice, going through team events, etc. And if injuries or poor play arise, the practice squad guys are usually the first call. So it’s a good place to land.

Person mentioned that Horton, Henry, Lovett and Brown will all very possibly be back on the practice squad, noting that “the intention is to bring the former Auburn OL back on the practice squad.” So several of these names aren’t going anywhere fast. Unless they get picked up by another team, expect these guys to be practice squad players.
We’ll keep this updated with any more Carolina Panthers cuts.
