Cowboys cut rookie defensive end Mika Tafua from practice squad
The Dallas Cowboys cut rookie defensive end Mika Tafua from their practice squad, NFL insider Aaron Wilson tweeted Tuesday. After playing his college ball at Utah, Tafua went undrafted in April before signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.
Tafua had not appeared in any games with the Cowboys prior to his release on Tuesday.
In four seasons with the Utes, Tafua totaled 130 tackles (32 for loss), 17.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown. He started all four seasons and had a breakout season in 2021 with 48 tackles (13 for loss), 9.5 sacks and a forced fumble. For his effort that year, he was awarded the Pac-12 Morris Trophy given to the conference’s top defensive lineman.

Unfortunately for Mika Tafua, there just didn’t seem to be a spot for him on the Cowboys defensive line. However, he will now have the opportunity to find a new NFL home that is a better fit.
As for Dallas, the Cowboys (6-3) are coming off a 31-28 overtime loss to Green Bay in Week 10. They will look to turn things around when face a red-hot Vikings (8-1) team at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.

Cowboys-Packers result in season-high TV rating
The Cowboys and Packers came down to the wire on Sunday, resulting in a season-high TV rating according to FOX. The network reported that 29.2 million people tuned in to watch as Green Bay prevailed 31-28 over former coach Mike McCarthy in overtime, the highest number of any network this season.
Additionally, the game was the most-watched since 2016 and up 25% from the 23.2 million viewers in Week 10 of last season. The Cowboys-Packers game was picked to serve as America’s Game of the Week, which according to FOX has been the most watched program in all of television this year.
The Cowboys and Packers game wasn’t the only big win for FOX this week, however. It was also reported that 16.2 million viewers tuned in for the overtime game between Minnesota and Buffalo, up 29% from Week 10 of last year.
