It was a record-setting Week 18 for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Despite notching a new personal accolade, his first five passing touchdown performance, Prescott has already shifted focus to the postseason.

“The stats and all that, the way we finished was great. It’s what we wanted to do, build momentum, get in a rhythm – but none of that matters anymore,” Prescott said. “You get into this tournament, and it’s one game at a time. It’s must-win. So that’s the focus.”

The Cowboys locked in their postseason appearance weeks ago but after losing two games, they wanted to break the streak versus the Eagles. Prescott led Dallas with 295 passing yards in the 51-26 win on Saturday night.

On the year, the former Mississippi State Bulldog has 4,449 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and a career-high 68.8 completion percentage. The stakes are high for Dallas. The team hasn’t made it past the Divisional playoff round since the 1990s.

Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy faced criticism for his decision to go ahead with his starters on Saturday.

Mike McCarthy was very content with his decision, despite some claiming he should be fired if anything should happen to Prescott.

“We’re approaching it the right way,” McCarthy said on the 105.3 The FAN pregame radio show. “We want healthy momentum going into next week. It’s the momentum chase we’re after. We don’t care who they play. This is about us. There’s so much to gain out of this.”

Prescott sets personal, franchise records

On a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Dak Prescott set two marks — one franchise and one personal.

The 8-yard touchdown toss to running back Corey Clement was Prescott’s 37th touchdown of the season, a franchise record. Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo set the previous record of 36 scores through the air in 2007.

Further, Prescott has never thrown five touchdown passes in a game, so the game’s performance was a personal record for the sixth-year player.
