The Philadelphia Eagles’ trip to Super Bowl LVII this Sunday has former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith heated. Joining 105.3 The Fan on Radio Row, Smith confirmed his ire for Eagles fans. He shared how he once responded to some heckling fans by flashing them his three Super Bowl rings.

“Sometimes, people just need to be… you know, it’s amazing to me, everyone expects athletes to be humble, to treat people with a level of respect, but on the fan side, they can do whatever they want to do and not have the same level of respect,” Smith said. “That’s how contradictory some of these things are.

“They talk about how flamboyant the Cowboys are, they win something and now they want to walk around and let the whole entire world know… beating themselves on the chest. Now, they’re back and talking about how much Dallas sucks. Why don’t you just enjoy your moment? Because you know what, everything is cyclical.”

Philadelphia fans recently took heat after the wife of 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, Sydney Warner, shared her experience with the Eagles supporters during the playoffs.

“I’ll probably never go back to that stadium to be honest, I guess you can just call me a wimp, but I couldn’t handle the fans,” Warner shared on social media. “Like I’m 100% down for like riding for your team, like ‘Hoorah, let’s go team,’ but honestly I just didn’t feel very safe.

“Fred told me not to wear any red, I did end up wearing a red bag, but I had to end up hiding it underneath my jacket because people were doing the ‘F you’s’ and the shoving and the whole thing.”

Smith supports Texas sports through and through

Eagles fans may not be walking around with much pep in their step after Sunday’s matchup versus the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City has a 53.3% chance at the Super Bowl win, according to the ESPN matchup predictor.

As for Smith, he’s mostly likely rooting against the Eagles fans who’ve heckled him throughout the years. He’s excited for the future of the Cowboys, however. He is still a loyal supporter of Dallas sports, but he’s also expended his fandom to teams all over the Lone Star state.

“I’m a big-time supporter of all of Texas sports,” Smith said. “If the Astros are playing the Rangers, I’m rooting for the Rangers. If the Rockets are playing the Mavs, I’m supporting the Mavs. I love that Kyrie is in Dallas.”
