The Dallas Cowboys list of inactive players for Sunday evening’s game against the Minnesota Vikings has been released. A number of key contributors had a questionable designation entering the weekend, the most notable being quarterback Dak Prescott.

On Friday, the players still listed on the Cowboys’ injury report included Dak Prescott, Dorance Armstrong and Tyron Smith as limited participants in practice. Trevon Diggs, Randy Gregory, Cedrick Wilson and Donovan Wilson were all full participants in practice on Friday and were cleared for Sunday’s game.

Dorance Armstrong and Tyron Smith were both listed as active ahead of the Sunday night game despite both players dealing with ankle injuries during the week prior.

Prescott missing time with his calf injury comes as a bit of a surprise for fans after initial reports downplayed the severity of the injury. With a bye week giving an extra week to recover, the Cowboys remained optimistic that Prescott would play against the Vikings.

However, the game time decision ended up being a precautionary one as Prescott was ruled inactive. With Prescott out, Cooper Rush will start his first NFL game at quarterback as the 5-1 Cowboys seek to improve their early lead over the NFC East division.

Diggs being available is a welcome piece of news, as he has been dealing with an injured ankle and is currently leading the NFL with six interceptions. With an interception tonight, Diggs is chasing NFL history as he has recorded an interception in each game of the season so far.

Prescott out despite strong warmups

Former NFL doctor David Chao assessed Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during his pre-game warmup routine ahead of their game against the Minnesota Vikings.

“All along have said that Dak is healthy enough to play. The question is: will the team let him and risk aggravation?”

Shortly after Prescott began doing his normal warm-up routine, Prescott was seen going third during warmups. The news came as a surprise given how strong Prescott appeared to be during warmups and did not appear to favor either leg during drills.

“Dak Prescott going third through drills he normally leads,” detailed The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “A good sign that Cooper Rush will be the starter tonight.”

Prescott was seen going back into the locker room ten minutes before the Cowboys’ inactive list was due to be reported. Not long afterwards, the official announcement was made and Rush was named starter for the Cowboys against the Vikings.
