The NFLPA has released its list of the top five edge rushers for the 2022 season, which revealed that Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons made the cut.

Voting for the NFLPA’s list were fellow edge rushers and opposing offensive linemen, which makes the honor just a bit more meaningful.

Parsons came in fourth behind three of the league’s best true defensive ends. San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa, Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett and Las Vegas Raiders’ Maxx Crosby were the top three for the 2022 season with New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon coming in fifth.

After winning defensive rookie of the year in 2021, Parsons followed up with 13.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in 2022. He also added three forced fumbles. Drafted in 2021, the Cowboys star is the youngest among the NFL’s top edge rushers.

It’s hard to argue against Nick Bosa at No. 1 in these rankings. He led the league with 18.5 sacks and hit the quarterback 48 times in the regular season. Cleveland Browns defensive star Myles Garrett had 16 sacks in 2022, along with 60 tackles.

Maxx Crosby also had a stellar year for the Raiders.  He notched a career-best 12.5 sacks and added 22 tackles for loss. Coming in fifth, Matthew Judon’s 15.5 sacks ranked fourth in the NFL this season.

Parsons defends picking Eagles to win Super Bowl LVII

Micah Parsons had to defend himself on social media after publicly rooting for the Cowboys’ NFC East rival to win the Super Bowl on Sunday versus the Chiefs.

After tweeting his support for Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson, Parsons told the Eagles standout to “go win a bowl for our division.”

The former Penn State standout’s admission prompted backlash from fans and media personalities alike. He responded forcefully in defense of his support for his fellow players.

“You people are sick!” Parsons wrote in a 2 a.m. post last week. “You will sit in your own misery because of lack of accomplishments than root for others!! I have no Shame! The league is a brotherhood ! I’ll never pray down on another man success nor be ashamed to say I’m happy for my brothers success!”

You can always count on Parsons to speak his mind, even if it means ruffling some feathers.
