Dallas Cowboys officially hire wide receivers coach

Coaching moves were thought to be coming for the Dallas Cowboys after another early exit from the playoffs. Thus far, only one has been made with wide receivers coach Adam Henry not being retained by head coach Mike McCarthy. On Wednesday, the Cowboys officially announced their next hire.
Robert Prince will coach wide receivers for Dallas during the 2022 season, coming from the Houston Texans. Prince was part of David Culley’s staff before the head coach was fired after the year. Before Houston, Prince spent seven years with the Detroit Lions as the wide receivers coach. Prince was the acting head coach for one game during the 2020 season when COVID-19 struck the Lions.
There is a Boise State connection between Prince and Dallas offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Prince was the wide receivers coach for the Broncos during the 2011 season — Moore’s final year in Boise. Moore threw for 3,800 yards and 43 touchdowns, helping the Broncos win the Mountain West and finish with a 12-1 record.
Back to the Cowboys, where Prince will be stepping into an interesting situation at wide receiver next season. 1,000-yard receiver CeeDee Lamb will for sure be on the roster for Dallas. However, Michael Gallup, Cedrick Wilson, Noah Brown, and Malik Turner will all be free agents, with general manager Jerry Jones most likely needing to resign at least one of them. And then there is Amari Cooper, whose future is in major doubt. Due to cap situations, the Cowboys may have to move on from Cooper.

Coming over to the Cowboys, it looks like Robert Prince will get the opportunity to coach with Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Following a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Miami Dolphins are in talks with San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel to become the next head coach, the Cowboys are expected to retain Moore in 2022. According to the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken, the franchise expected the return and now keeps both coordinators after head coaching interviews.
Kellen Moore joins defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as Cowboys assistants who took head coaching interviews throughout the offseason but ultimately Dallas retains both under Mike McCarthy. Both ended the season as candidates for the Pro Football Writers Association Assistant Coach of the Year award, which went to Quinn.
The Dallas Cowboys now start the preparation process for the 2022 season, which features plenty returning talent and now a full compliment of assistant coaches who can provide continuity as the franchise looks to become a Super Bowl contender.
