Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones involved in car accident, hospitalized

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was involved in an accident Wednesday evening, leading to him being hospitalized for his injuries. While Dallas police are still investigating the accident, Jones is reportedly being treated for non-serious injuries at the hospital according to a report.

“Dallas Police sources say Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was involved in an accident in Dallas and has been transported to hospital,” stated WFAA TV’s Rebecca Lopez. “I am told his injuries are not serious. DPD is investigating.”

According to a report by WFAA, just before 8:10 p.m. CT, emergency crews were called to the accident site in Dallas. Jones was transported to a local hospital for his injuries, which are reportedly minor.

While Cowboys fans will certainly be shocked to learn their 79-year-old owner and former Arkansas Razorbacks star was involved in an accident, the non-life threatening nature of his injuries is a major relief. Jones has been the Cowboys’ owner since 1989 — one of the longest tenured owners in the NFL.

Jones reveals Cowboys draft rankings

Jones has had a busy week with the NFL Draft taking place just a week prior to his accident. In a moment that the Dallas Cowboys owner may want to take back, Jones accidentally revealed the Cowboys’ top-34 draft board rankings. According to The Athletic, who caught the mistake during a Jones press appearance, the two players ranked highest by Dallas in the draft went to their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants.

While Jones was explaining why the Cowboys chose tackle Tyler Smith with their first round pick, he attempted to prove his statement by grabbing a sheet with draft board rankings that he claimed were printed out ahead of the draft. The Athletic‘s Jon Machota saw the list and was able to put together the Cowboys’ pre-draft rankings for the first round, revealing insider information that normally would never see the public’s eyes.

Overall, the list Jones showed seemed to back up his claims that Smith was always high on Dallas’ drafting priority. While there are no major surprises on their rankings, Dallas might have wanted to keep their drafting priorities a little bit more private in regards to future business dealings.
