The Dallas Cowboys released Friday’s injury report ahead of their matchup on Sunday with the New England Patriots.

Did Not Practice

Dorance Armstrong, DE (ankle)

Armstrong has been plagued by a high ankle sprain the past few weeks. The Cowboys are optimistic that he’ll be able to return sometime in the next few weeks. He suffered the injury against the LA Chargers.

Limited Participants

Trevon Diggs, DB (ankle)

Ezekiel Elliott, RB (ribs)

Randy Gregory, DE (knee)

Damontae Kazee, S (hip)

Tyron Smith, T (neck)

Donavan Wilson, S (groin)

There are a few notable injuries listed above. First, there’s defensive back Trevon Diggs, who will continue to receive treatment on his injured ankle into the weekend and will probably be a “game-time” decision for the Patriots game, the Cowboys announced Friday on their website. The talented corner injured his ankle against the Giants last Sunday and snatched his league-leading sixth interception of the season. He was expected to participate in the Cowboys walkthrough on Friday, but in a limited fashion. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he believes Diggs will be “ready to play” on Sunday.

Then there’s Tyron Smith, who the Cowboys announced on Friday received the MRI results on his neck and they were “favorable.” Smith spent almost all of the 2020 season recovering from neck surgery to address an issue that had lingered over the past few seasons. Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed a neck issue popped up in practice for Smith on Thursday, so they scheduled an MRI. He’s expected to be “questionable” leading up to the game Sunday. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones said he believes Smith will be “ready to play” against New England.

Ezekiel Elliott bruised his ribs when he landed on a camera pylon diving into the end zone last Sunday against the Giants. He’s been treating the rib injury with heat treatment in the hot tub, according to Todd Archer. He’s expected to play against the Patriots.

Randy Gregory looked impressive last week against the Giants. Even though he was limited in practice on Friday, he’s expected to suit up for the Cowboys on Sunday.

Damontae Kazee woke up on Tuesday morning with hip soreness, but said, “I’ll be alright.” He’s expected to play for the Cowboys in Sunday’s matchup as well.

The Cowboys had a total of seven players listed on Friday’s injury report, but right now the only player guaranteed to not play in Sunday’s game against the Patriots is Dorance Armstrong.
