Despite playing on a Thursday afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys will not have a long week to prepare for their game against the New Orleans Saints. The two are set to square off in another edition of Thursday Night Football.

The Cowboys, who have lost three of four, have been playing without wide receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. At least one of them is expected back in the lineup against New Orleans in Lamb.

He provided an update on his recovery after suffering a concussion in the loss to Kansas City. Lamb said a head injury requires precaution but wishes he played on Thanksgiving against the Las Vegas Raiders.

“A head injury is nothing to play with,” Lamb said when speaking with the media on Monday. “Obviously I wanted to be in there.”

“I wasn’t feeling like myself, kind of something still lingering around,” Lamb said. “I couldn’t describe what it was and I knew at that moment I wasn’t mentally nor physically prepared.”

Shortly after, Lamb confirmed he was going to play against the Saints on Thursday. Despite missing the past game and a half, he leads the Cowboys in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Quarterback Dak Prescott getting one of his weapons back boosts Dallas’ chances of getting back on the right track.

Dallas Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy out due to COVID-19

It was announced on Monday morning that Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has tested positive for COVID-19 and that he will miss Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

“Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has been entered into the NFL’s Covid protocols this morning,” the Cowboys said in a statement via Pelissero. “Although he will not be on the field for the Saints game, McCarthy will continue to direct, and be involved in, all meetings and game preparations on a virtual basis for the remainder of the week, including Thursday’s meetings in New Orleans.

“The team will conduct all of its meetings today virtually and proceed with its regularly scheduled practice session at 12:15 p.m.”

McCarthy talked to reporters over the phone on Monday afternoon. The head coach says he feels fine and if he has any symptoms, they have not hit him yet.

“I feel good. Just a little bit of a scratchy throat. I thought it was a little carryover from the game,” McCarthy said. “I guess it hasn’t hit me yet.”
