The team over at ESPN has released their rankings of NFL franchises’ offseasons, and fans of the Dallas Cowboys won’t be too thrilled about this list. ESPN ranks the Dallas Cowboys as having one of the worst offseasons this year, putting them at 24.

The two biggest transactions that have the Cowboys rated so low is former defensive end Randy Gregory shifting gears after agreeing to a deal with the Cowboys and heading to the Denver Broncos. And the other is Dallas’s salary cap dump of wide receiver Amari Cooper.

The Cooper situation especially hurt the Cowboys as they traded away their 27-year-old star receiver for a fifth-round pick. Those who follow the NFL believe that if Dallas had held out a little longer, they could have received a much better haul for Cooper. Shortly after he was traded, the Packers dealt Davante Adams to the Raiders, and Kansas City shipped Tyreek Hill to Miami. Both teams received a first-round pick and additional draft capital in their deals. Along with those two trades, during the 2022 NFL Draft, young receivers Marquise Hollywood Brown and A.J. Brown were traded. And in those two deals, both the Cardinals and the Titans received first-round draft compensation.

As for how the Cowboys could have done things differently, ESPN believes retaining Michael Gallup and franchise tagging Dalton Schultz were not the best options. The Cowboys could have picked up Titan C.J Uzomah at a much better bargain. And instead of dealing away Cooper, let Gallup walk in free agency as he is coming off of a torn ACL.

Cowboys Hall of Famer Drew Pearson discusses No. 88, wanting jersey retirement

Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson joined the FOX broadcast booth on Sunday night while watching the 2022 NASCAR All-Star race at Texas Motor Speedway. The new Hall of Famer discussed his love of the sport, as well as his desire to see No. 88 retired after his playing career.

During his appearance with broadcasters Mike Joy and Clint Boyer, Drew Pearson started off by showing great appreciation for the opportunity to see the NASCAR race up close and from a unique vantage point.

“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Pearson. “These are the kinds of opportunities I’ve been getting since I’ve been in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I should’ve tried a long time ago to get in, because this is pretty cool right here.”

Pearson answered a handful of questions while watching the race, making it clear that his favorite car to cheer for is whichever one sports his iconic No. 88. However, he added a small piece of information on what he hoped the Cowboys would do for him back in the day.

“Well I wanted to retire my number too, but the Cowboys wouldn’t let me,” said Pearson. “So it’s all gone. Michael Ervin, Dez Bryant, now Ceedee Lamb is wearing No. 88.

“But I remember back in the day when Dale Jarrett in the 88 car. He’s one of my favorites, of course.”
