Former Green Bay Packers wideout leaving for new team

Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling officially signed a three-year, $30 million deal worth up to $36 million with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday afternoon, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. MVS has the impossible and unenviable task of trying to replace the playmaking ability of Tyreek Hill, who was recently traded to the Miami Dolphins for a five draft picks.
Valdes-Scantling does have plenty of speed, but there’s just simply no receiver on the planet that can come close to matching the earth-scorching speed of Hill’s. In 2021, MVS averaged 16.5 yards per reception, fifth in the NFL among wide receivers with 45 plus targets.

The Packers will now be searching for new wide receivers to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers. This offseason, they’ve already traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and on Thursday, MVS found his new home with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Valdes Scantling will join his new teammate, Juju Smith Schuster, who the Chiefs just recently acquired in free agency. Smith-Schuster will be operating out of the slot next season in Kansas City, a position that he’s performed very well at in the past.
