Report: Former Stanford coach David Shaw interviews with Denver Broncos

Former Stanford coach David Shaw could be eyeing an NFL return. He interviewed with the Denver Broncos Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Shaw is no stranger to the professional ranks. He worked for the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders from 1997-2005 before joining Jim Harbaugh at San Diego in 2006. He then followed Harbaugh to Stanford in 2006 as his offensive coordinator and ultimately succeeded him when he went to the NFL. Shaw remained the Cardinal’s head coach through the 2022 season, after which he announced his resignation.
During his time as the Stanford headman, Shaw amassed a 96-54 record, including a 65-40 record in Pac-12 play. His last two seasons didn’t go well, though, as the Cardinal finished 3-9 in 2021 and 2022.
Shaw’s interview with the Broncos is even more interesting considering Harbaugh has also been connected to Denver. Now the head coach at Michigan, Harbaugh flirted with NFL opportunities last year and his name has come up again this offseason for multiple openings.

Report: Jim Harbaugh expected to interview with Denver Broncos
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh will interview for the Denver Broncos head coaching vacancy this coming week, Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported. The meeting will be virtual, and Denver is expected to interview, “several other candidates,” the same way.
The Broncos fired former head coach Nathaniel Hackett after 15 games. High expectations turned into a double-digit loss season in the blink of an eye, and the unbearably incapable offense spelled disaster from the start. Harbaugh, among the other candidates, will look to right Hackett’s wrongs and prove why the Broncos were expected to be in the playoff mix before the season.
Harbaugh just led the Wolverines to a 13-1 season and a second-straight College Football Playoff berth. Despite taking the interview, the Michigan coach said in a statement earlier this week saying that he expects to be back in Ann Arbor for the 2023 season.
