Georgia receiver George Pickens schedules meeting with WR-needy contender

George Pickens could be just what the Packers order to replace Davante Adams in Green Bay. According to Bill Huber of SI.com, the former Georgia star wide receiver is set to meet with the Packers this week, with the 2022 NFL Draft on the horizon.
“Bill Huber of SI.com reports that the team is set to meet with Georgia’s George Pickens this week,” wrote Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “Pickens tore his ACL last March, but returned to catch five passes for 107 yards in the team’s final four games of the season.”
Moreover, Pickens was a star at Georgia his first two seasons, accumulating 85 catches for 1,240 yards and 14 touchdowns. Then, the wide receiver unfortunately tore his ACL in March of 2021, prior to the season beginning. However, Pickens made it back onto the field for the Bulldogs during their championship run, catching five passes for 107 yards, showing his incredible recovery ability.
Pickens could be perfect for the Packers, as he spoke about how he tries to emulate Adams on the field at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.
“I watch Davante Adams a lot,” Pickens said. “I’m bigger than Davante Adams. That’s kind of the lane I kind of want to go into because with the size I am, a guy who can move is almost unguardable.”
As you can see, George Pickens could be a match made in heaven with the Packers. It’ll be interesting to watch which wide receiver Green Bay hones in on come the big day.

More on George Pickens, 2022 NFL Draft
George Pickens missed most of the regular season for Georgia in 2021 after suffering a knee injury during spring practice. He made his debut in the season finale against Georgia Tech, catching one pass for five years. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver also appeared in the national championship game where he brought in one catch for 52 yards.
An Alabama native, Pickens came to Georgia in 2019 as a five-star recruit and the No. 5 receiver in the class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He chose the Bulldogs over offers from Alabama, Michigan, Oregon and many others. The freshman wasted no time making his presence known, finishing as the leading receiver that season with 49 catches for 727 yards and eight touchdowns.
Pickens continued his success the following year as a sophomore to finish with 513 yards receiving and six touchdowns in just eight games. He appeared to be primed for another big season in 2021 before the knee injury derailed those plans. But as George Pickens showed with his 40-yard dash time Thursday, he still has plenty to offer an NFL team willing to take a chance on him.
Pickens currently ranks as the No. 17 overall receiver in the draft according to ESPN’s big board, but has a chance to move up thanks to his performance at the combine.
