Weather has delayed the start of Sunday’s Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway. The racetrack has continued to provide updates throughout the day.

The latest is that they remain in a holding pattern. Fans are being asked to remain sheltered. Gates are closed. The race had been scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET.

“WEATHER UPDATE: Due to the ongoing weather in the area, including lightning, we remain in a holding pattern. Gates remain closed at this time for everyone’s safety,” the track tweeted. “Parking lots are open. Please remain sheltered in place in your vehicles until the weather has cleared. We will provide updates as they come.”

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports previously said the rain would need to stop by 12:30 p.m. ET for NASCAR to have a shot at starting the race as scheduled. Pocono does not have lights and rain tires aren’t available. Pockrass projects the rain would need to cease by 3:00 p.m. to be able to race. Track drying operations are underway.
