Green Bay Packers restructure key defender to create additional cap room

The Green Bay Packers are among many NFL teams that are currently making moves to clear up some cap space in hopes to resign or sign certain players. With the status of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers still up in the air and the Packers not sure if he’ll be returning or not, the organization is clearing up some cap room so it’ll be able to make the proper moves when appropriate.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Packers have created $10.892 million in cap space for 2022 by restructuring the contract of standout nose tackle Kenny Clark. As Yates reports, the team converted $13.615 million of the defender’s 2022 compensation into a signing bonus and added two void years onto his deal.
It’s certainly a smart move for Green Bay, as it could potentially be resigning key players such as Rodgers and star wide receiver Davante Adams to new contracts.

“The Packers have signed kicker Dominik Eberle,” stated ESPN’s Field Yates on Tuesday, adding a joke about the day filled with news of Rodgers. “Some are calling it the news out of Green Bay all were waiting for today.”
While Rodgers dominated the day and the Packers offseason in general, the kicker situation in Green Bay has been a hot topic among fans and a concern for the team. Crosby has been the Packers’ guy since 2007 and has been a huge part of the franchise as the Packers’ kicking record holder. However, his 2021 season saw him struggle at times, leading to his second-worst career accuracy with 73.5 percent of his kicks made.
