Ja’Marr Chase believes his chemistry with Joe Burrow carries over from LSU to the Cincinnati Bengals. One year after selecting Burrow with the first overall selection in the NFL Draft, the Bengals selected his former teammate fifth overall.

If Chase and Burrow’s chemistry actually does carry over, the entire NFL will be on notice.

“I would probably say we never lost it,” Chase said, via Keith Jenkins of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “Just a little communication with me and him if I might mess up and he’ll tell me what’s going on, tell me how he wants it, tell me what I see on the play so we’ll talk about it, correct it and that’s how it’s always been.”

The duo was one of the most productive in college football history, setting records on their way to a victory in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship. Burrow had arguably the greatest season of any quarterback in college football history, and Chase was his go-to target.

To illustrate, Burrow passed for 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns. In addition, Chase tallied 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. The offensive duo led LSU to an undefeated season in the process.

Can the duo ignite the Bengals offense?

Last season, the Bengals offense finished 29th overall in the league. The connection between Chase and Burrow is sure to help them up their ranking.

One of the biggest challenges rookies face when they get to the NFL is the difficulty of preparation. As they adjust to everything in their life-changing around them, they also have to adjust to the differences in the games from college to the professionals.

However, the Bengals may not have the same problem with Chase. While at LSU, Burrow helped Chase with the intricacies of film study. The wide receiver gets his favorite tutor back again.

“I know in college, Joe was actually one of the first people that helped me really break down film,” Chase said. “I used to just sit there and watch myself, try to critique myself, but Joe actually gave me the ins and outs of watching film when I was younger. It plays a part now.”

Learning, growing and taking on the NFL together should only help the former LSU duo. We’ve seen special connections in the league between quarterback and receiver before, but Burrow and Chase have the potential to outdo them all.

Undoubtedly, Chase had the potential to be great wherever he was drafted. If the San Francisco 49ers or the Atlanta Falcons decided to adjust their draft plans to select the wide receiver, he’d still fit in great.

However, now joining Burrow in going from the Tigers to the Bengals, great is the floor for Ja’Marr Chase. Without a doubt, Chase can be special in Cincinnati.
