Former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett likely made more than a few Dallas fans upset with his prediction for Sunday Night Football. Garrett, now a crew member for NBC’s pregame show Football Night in America, claimed on air that the Eagles would come out the victor against the Cowboys on Sunday night in Philadelphia.

“I never thought I’d say this in my life…Fly Eagles Fly,” Garrett said, employing the use of Philadelphia’s team slogan.

Jason Garrett wasn’t alone in his opinion, as only one of the nine NBC analysts picked the Cowboys to win. However, given his connection to the franchise, his prediction likely stings a bit more than the others.

Sunday’s matchup has huge implications in the NFC East, as Dallas (4-1) could move into first place with a victory against the Eagles (5-0). The Cowboys are on a four-game winning streak since quarterback Cooper Rush took over for an injured Dak Prescott in Week 2.

Garrett served as Dallas’ head coach from 2010-19, leading the team to an 85-67 record in that span. That included 2-3 in postseason games across three playoff appearances. The Cowboys declined to renew his contract when it expired in 2020, as he never led the team past the divisional round.

Dallas Cowboys list inactive players ahead of Philadelphia Eagles matchup

Ahead of their Sunday night matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys have listed their inactive players for the game. Leading the list of inactive players is quarterback Dak Prescott who is continuing to work towards a return — paving the way for Cooper Rush to try and lead Dallas to a 5-1 start.

Inactive – Dallas Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott, TE Dalton Schultz, CB Nahshon Wright, LB Devin Harper, S Markquese Bell, OT Matt Waletzko

Another major name on the list for Dallas is tight end Dalton Schultz, who has been battling a knee injury this season. He had returned to game action after missing the Cowboys’ game against the New York Giants, but is back out after suffering a new injury the following week. Schultz was not listed as injured

Rounding out the list of inactive players is Nahshon Wright, Devin Harper, Markquese Bell and Matt Waletzko, leaving the Dallas secondary and defense without a large amount of depth for the game.
