Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy provides update on Tyron Smith

Injuries have hampered the Dallas Cowboys all season, seeing key players miss a significant amount of time this season. Someone who has yet to see the field at all is left tackle Tyron Smith, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. A staple on the offensive line for years, Smith will be a welcomed return.
A return could be in the near future as well. Head coach Mike McCarthy provided an update on Smith during a Monday press conference, saying the left tackle “looks great” despite not being cleared to return to the practice field.

“Tyron has been here every day,” McCarthy said. “His workouts are very impressive. He‘s getting close.”
Smith is expected back for the stretch run of the season, helping Dallas push for the top spot in the NFC East. In the meantime, Tyler Smith has been the replacement and has done a nice job. He is expected to move back to left guard once the veteran is back on the field.
Conner McGovern has been playing next to the rookie at LG and will have a rotational role on the offensive line in the near future.

Getting somebody as experienced as Smith in the lineup will make the jobs of everyone on the offense easier. Multiple key games remain on the schedule, including a Christmas Eve showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones provides update on Odell Beckham Jr.
The Dallas Cowboys have unashamedly shared their interest in free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Everyone from Jerry Jones to the team’s coaches and down to the players has been discussing OBJ for a few weeks now. Now, after their Thanksgiving day victory over the Giants, Jones went as far as to share he spoke with Beckham Jr. today.
Per Clarence Hill Jr. at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones shared that he and Beckham Jr. talked at some point on Thursday and that a visit is in the works for him to come to Dallas.
Jones did not clarify what the conversation was about beyond just sharing that they’d spoken. Per Ed Werder at ESPN, though, Jones did say that the team is still unsure whether or not OBJ would be healthy enough to play this year, which is why conversations and visits like this will be crucial to his potential acquisation.
