Louisville football to wear new retro Adidas jersey vs. Virginia and Clemson

Adidas unveiled its latest college football jersey on Friday morning as part of its “Premier Strategy” line.
And Louisville is one of seven sponsored schools that will wear the uniforms this season, along with North Carolina State, Kansas, Grambling State, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, and Nebraska.
The Cards are set to debut the retro black jerseys at home against Virginia (Oct. 4) at L&N Stadium, and then they will also wear them when Clemson (Nov. 14, 8 P.M.) comes to town for a Friday night showdown.
These are the third new Cardinals jersey to be announced before the 2025 season. In July, the U of L put out that they would be returning to a more traditional look with red (home) and white (away) uniforms.
The black “Premier Strategy” uniforms boast “Louisville” in font across the chest, with a black V-neck. The numbers are piped in the same way as the shoulders, with a thick white interior and a red outline. The shoulder sleeves’ red is darker than the number outline to give each unique number a pop. Numbers will also be featured on the sleeves/shoulder pads.
Switching to the backside of the jersey, we see a plain design with the “Heisman Bird” logo positioned just below the neck. The inner fabric of the neck lining will read “For the Ville”.
Adidas’ Aaron Seabron, General Manager, US Sports & Creation Center Portland statement: “These new uniforms are the result of many hours of collaboration with our university partners as we worked to celebrate their schools’ rich culture and legacies. It’s important to us that each design authentically resonates with the tradition and pride that our partners’ fanbases exude. We’re eager to see how these new storytelling-driven energize fans and athletes this fall.”
The subsequent goal of the uniforms was to mix a historic and retro flair with the modern look of the program.

A throwback-branded collection featuring the “Heisman Bird” will release with the jersey debut and will be made available at certain retailers at a later date.
