NASCAR posts strong ratings for Joey Logano win at Texas Motor Speedway

The ratings for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway have been released, and it was a good weekend for the sport. Per Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal, FS1 got 2.560 million viewers for Sunday’s race. It’s an increase from the 2.310 million viewers from last year and good enough to make it the top sports event across FOX’s channels last week.
Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas in overtime. He has now clinched a spot in the playoffs and is one step closer to winning his fourth Cup Series championship.
After the race, Logano spoke to FOX Sports about getting the win after being disqualified at Talladega. “The sport changes so quickly. It’s crazy how you can just ride these roller coasters and just proud of the team,” Joey Logano said. “Finally get AAA Insurance into victory lane. They’ve been a partner of mine since I’ve been to Penske, so 13, 14 years. I’ve yet to win with them. It was awesome to get that done here.

“The JL Kids Crew is here. We’ll have fun with them on victory lane. A lot of people here. My family, they’re at home. Hey, Brittany, the kids, love you guys. It’s going to be a fun night.”

During the post-race press conference, Logano’s crew chief, Paul Wolfe revealed how his driver came away with the win. “Obviously a long day for us starting with a not-so-great qualifying effort yesterday, but we knew we had a good car after practice yesterday and felt like we fought hard all day and chipped away at it,” Wolfe said.
“The track got pretty racy, which was encouraging. We weren’t sure that it would widen out. Obviously, practice tends to be pretty single-file, and it was hard to pass, but our cars were good enough. I think all the Penske cars obviously were very fast today, as a bunch of us got to be up front and lead laps. So showed the strength of that.”
