Monday afternoon Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was asked whether they will claim Odell Beckham, Jr off waivers. The former LSU star was officially released by the Cleveland Browns at 4:00 p.m. EDT, and is now on the NFL’s waiver wire.

In the Seahawks press conference on Monday, Carrol said he does not rule out Seattle bringing on the beleaguered veteran via waivers. But ended his answer with this quote and a smile: “So, I didn’t say yes or I didn’t say no. That’s just cause…you’ll see.”

Could the Seahawks swoop in and sign Beckham off waivers

Earlier today NFL reporter Ian Rapoport gave an outlook of what is next for the former Browns receiver.

“I had a couple of executives joke with me a couple of days ago; it seems like the Browns have cut Odell Beckham four times. Maybe it feels like that but after several days of talking about it yes it is official today he is finally on waivers. In 24 hours from the time they officially put him on waivers, which was 4:00 p..m Eastern Time today, we’re going to learn whether or not Odell Beckham actually cleared.”

It is possible that Beckham does not clear waivers and a team signs him. and it is highly likely that team could be the Seattle Seahawks. Right now, Seattle does have the cap space to take on the $7.25 million owed to Beckham.

“He is expected to clear waivers because he carries in $8 million salary through waivers. And at that point when he clears he is free to sign with any team he wants. Now there is a couple interesting teams to keep an eye on. One potentially the New Orleans Saints. They actually called the Browns tried to trade for Odell right before the trade deadline; that would be one team to watch. The Seattle Seahawks, of course Russell Wilson expected back this week, that is another team to watch. There’s going to be plenty but, obviously where Odell and certainly the biggest going these days.”

Best odds for Beckham Jr.’s next NFL landing spot

New Orleans Saints +300
Las Vegas Raiders +350
Baltimore Ravens +400
New England Patriots +500
Los Angeles Chargers +600
Buffalo Bills +700
Indianapolis Colts +800
San Francisco 49ers +900
Green Bay Packers +1000
Kansas City Chiefs +1200
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1500

There are undoubtedly a few NFL teams that could use Beckham Jr. right now. Even if he isn’t at the same elite form that he flashed in his early years in the league, he could still provide value and depth to a wide receiver room.

The top of the list makes a lot of sense as potential landing spots. The Saints lack a true top-end wide receiver, especially now that Michael Thomas will miss the entire season. Las Vegas just lost Henry Ruggs III after he was arrested for a fatal DUI crash. Baltimore could also use more talent in the wide receiver room, as could New England.

Beckham Jr. is likely to prefer a team where he can play a role right away. Wherever that may be, building chemistry and comfortability will be pivotal. Beckham is also looking for a much-needed fresh start in the NFL. That was something that he just wasn’t able to find with Mayfield in Cleveland.
