NFL reveals first teams set for 2022 NFL International games

The first teams have been revealed for the 2022 NFL International games. On Monday, the league stated the Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play international games during the 2022 season.
The NFL is sending the Buccaneers to play in the NFL’s inaugural regular-season game in Munich, Germany. It’s a market the NFL has been attempting to break into, and they’re sending one of the best teams in the NFC in Tampa Bay.
Also, the Cardinals are headed to play in Mexico City. Arizona is no stranger to the idea, as it’s where they hosted the league’s first-ever regular-season game outside the United States in 2005.
Finally, the Packers, Saints and Jaguars are headed to London in 2022. The Jaguars are no stranger to the idea, as Jacksonville has gone to London multiple times over recent seasons. The Saints have played in London twice, and left with a victory both times. However, it’s the first time Green Bay will make the trip — playing their first international game in 2022.
“We are very excited to be staging five games outside the United States in 2022, and thank the clubs for their continued commitment to growing the sport internationally,” said Peter O’Reilly, NFL Executive Vice President, Club Business and League Events, via NFL.com. “Our fans in Germany, Mexico and the UK can look forward to seeing some of the most iconic names and biggest stars in the League and enjoying an incredible series of events.”
Opponents will be announced later on Monday. Nevertheless, the NFL is sending some of their best squads to new markets as part of their 2022 NFL International initiative next season.

According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Amazon is targeting Herbstreit to be its lead analyst for its Thursday Night Football broadcasts. As Marchand reports, Herbstreit would be able to continue working for ESPN in his college football role while also fulfilling his NFL duties with Amazon. ESPN would also want to be able to still use the analyst on some of its NFL broadcasts.
“If Amazon and Herbstreit were to make a deal, ESPN, according to sources, would want the option to still use Herbstreit on some NFL games,” Marchand reports. “While continuing as the home of “Monday Night Football,” it will extend to 25 games a year in the next two years.”
Herbstreit – the iconic face of ESPN’s College GameDay show and the primary analyst for the big-time college football games – is currently under contract with ESPN for nearly $6-plus million per year, according to Marchand.
While he’s being heavily compensated for his work in college football, Herbstreit may soon expand his horizons – and his bank account – as an NFL analyst for Amazon.
Amazon had reportedly already targeted names such as Troy Aikman, Sean McVay and John Lynch for its open role. Now, it is expected to focus in on Herbstreit.
