Report: Packers agree to terms with first-round pick Devonte Wyatt

The Green Bay Packers have locked in first-round draft pick Devonte Wyatt, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. As expected, Wyatt is signing a four-year deal worth $12.86 million, which is fully guaranteed.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Pack to keep the former Georgia Bulldog in Green Bay through 2026. Wyatt also receives a $6.53 million signing bonus.

The Packers picked the defensive lineman with their second pick in the first round on Thursday night at No. 28 overall.

Wyatt was dominant for Georgia, accumulating 103 total tackles, 5.0 sacks and two forced fumbles for a loaded Bulldogs squad over four seasons.

A former four-star recruit in the class of 2017, Wyatt was the No. 25 defensive lineman in the nation per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. Wyatt played his high school football at Towers in Decatur, Georgia. Continuing, Wyatt began his high school career as a running back and track star, proving his immense athleticism. The versatile defensive lineman improved each season at Georgia, showing there’s high potential with his skillset.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst: ‘We kept the G on the helmet’

Like many teams, the Green Bay Packers were quite fond of a few Georgia Bulldogs players heading into the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday. But Green Bay was the only team to take multiple Bulldogs, selecting both linebacker Quay Walker and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt.

After drafting the two former Georgia Bulldogs, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst pointed out the players will be rocking similar logos at the next level.

“We kept the G on the helmet,” Gutekunst said. “We figured that’s easy.

“Obviously, they’ve had a lot of success down there in Athens. These guys were two really prototypical fits not only as players but as people that we wanted to bring in the building. We’re really excited about that.”
