The Pittsburgh Steelers offense will be back in good health when they take the field against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The team announced on Friday that quarterback Kenny Pickett and tight end Pat Freiermuth have both cleared concussion protocol.

Along with those two, cornerback Levi Wallace has also cleared protocol and can make a return to a banged-up Steelers defense.

Pickett sustained his concussion the Steelers Week 6 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since leaving the game in the hands of Mitch Trubisky, Pickett has practiced fully and will now presumably return as the starter on Sunday.

Freiermuth returns after missing Week 6 entirely, having gotten concussed in Week 5 against the Bills. Wallace, like Freiermuth, also sustained his concussion against the Bills but is also on track to play Sunday.

Notes from the Steelers Thursday injury report vs. Dolphins

The Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with injuries at some crucial positions ahead of their Sunday Night game in Miami this coming weekend. But as many already know, the Dolphins are also dealing with injuries to key players. So both teams are a bit banged up heading into the matchup.

Thursday, Pittsburgh released its injury report from the day of practice. The first part dealt with Pickett, who suffered a concussion a week ago. Here’s what the report said on him:

“The Steelers continued their preparation for Sunday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins and quarterback Kenny Pickett continues to be a full participant.

“Pickett is in the concussion protocol following Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but is able to practice this week.”

Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada also added: “Everything’s been all clear and all go, so we’re functioning that way. We’re just taking the normal steps you would take in this situation.”

So, Pickett is practicing and plans to play vs. the Dolphins.
