The Dallas Cowboys snuck in some massive news during the NFL’s conference championship games with the announcement that they and OC Kellen Moore would be parting ways mutually. Even with his time in Dallas coming to an end, though, it sounds like the 34-year old may not have to wait long to find his next stop.

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will ‘have significant interest’ in Kellen Moore as their next offensive coordinator.

Moore would be set to replace Byron Leftwich after he was fired by Tampa Bay after the end of their season. The Buc’s offense had taken a big step back this season even with QB Tom Brady playing quality football. Leftwich eventually became the scapegoat for that regression.

Ironically enough, it was Moore’s offense in Dallas that knocked Tampa Bay out of the playoffs in the NFC Wild Card. Now it might be the next offense the Buccaneers run and could make an impact on Brady’s looming decision this offseason.

More on Cowboys, Moore agree to part ways

The Dallas Cowboys officially decided to move on from their offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, on Sunday evening, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. He’s one of the bright young offensive minds in the National Football League. Still, Dallas felt a change was needed after their disappointing finish in the 2023 NFL Playoffs.

More specifically, Kellen Moore and Cowboys’ head coach Mike McCarthy received a lot of heat for their bizarre final play-call against the San Francisco 49ers, in which they thought it was a great idea to line running back Ezekiel Elliott up at center. First, Elliott was steamrolled on the play. The Cowboys then didn’t get very far, before the game was over and the 49ers won 19-12. It was yet another devastating dose of heartbreak for Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones.

That shouldn’t take away from the success that Moore has had over the past few years with the Dallas Cowboys. He even interviewed for the head coaching position at Boise State back in 2020. Moore was of course, one of the greatest players in Boise State football history during his prolific playing career there.
