WATCH: Travis Kelce claps back at 'Burrowhead' comment after clinching Super Bowl berth

After earning a trip to the Super Bowl by eliminating the Bengals, Travis Kelce was quick to fire a shot at the “Burrowhead” jokes. Ahead of their rematch with the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton joked that the Chiefs’ home stadium was actually “Burrowhead Stadium” instead of Arrowhead Stadium. The intensity of the joke then ratcheted up once the mayor of Cincinnati got involved by using the Burrowhead nickname in a video shared via social media.
While Patrick Mahomes was interviewed after the tough win despite visible injury, Kelce came running up to crash the interview and fire a shot directly at their AFC rival.
Travis Kelce claps back at Burrowhead joke
Hilton’s joke about his quarterback, Joe Burrow, owning the Kansas City stadium’s naming rights became the rallying cry for both teams in trash talk throughout the week. The message was received by the Kansas City players clearly, as Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones later referenced the moniker in a press conference by saying “see y’all at Burrowhead Stadium.”

Kelce’s punctuation mark on the victory showed just how much this win meant to the Chiefs after last season where they fell in overtime to Burrow and the Bengals in the conference championship round. Now, Kelce and his coach Andy Reid will face Reid’s former team in the final game of the year after the Philadelphia Eagles took down the San Francisco 49ers earlier on Sunday.
Kelce wasn’t finished with his outburst of emotion, being handed the microphone one more time as the team was awarded the conference championship trophy on stage. Kelce called out the mayor of Cincinnati specifically during his second message, hyping up the fans to an entirely new level of excitement with his energy. During their chances on stage, both Kelce and Mahomes took the chance to ask the Kansas City fans what the name of their home stadium was still.
