UF legacy Rivers Kurland signs with Gators baseball

UF legacy Rivers Kurland, a touted pitcher, recently committed to the Florida Gators, he told Gators Online. He previously was committed to FSU. According to Kurland, he signed with UF “a few days ago.”

Kurland, who played at Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep, is a member of the 2025 class. He is the younger brother of Florida infielder Cade Kurland.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play for Coach [Kevin] O’Sullivan and the Gators,” Rivers Kurland said. “To do so alongside my brother, Cade, makes it even more meaningful.”

Rivers Kurland, listed at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, is a left-handed pitcher. Per MaxPreps, he went 7-3 as a senior with a 0.42 ERA in 83 innings while striking out 118 and walking 25.

He went 27-7 overall in four years of high school baseball with a 1.35 ERA and opponent batting average of .177.

Cade Kurland just completed his junior season at UF. He played in 14 games with 13 starts at second base this year before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. Kurland slashed .316/.490/.605 in 38 at-bats in 2025.

Cade Kurland is draft eligible and ESPN recently ranked him as one of the top 150 MLB draft prospects, checking in at No. 131.
