Updated depth chart reveals movement within the Steelers quarterback room

The Pittsburgh Steelers are already shuffling the depth chart around on Tuesday after first releasing it Monday ahead of their Week 1 game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. When the lineup was released Monday, Mitchell Trubisky was slated as the starting quarterback, with Mason Rudolph as the second-stringer and rookie Kenny Pickett as the third option.
Well, according to an updated depth chart tweeted out on Tuesday by Pittsburgh’s Director of Communications, Burt Lauten, Kenny Pickett has overtaken Rudolph as the No. 2 QB. Take a look.
So Pickett moves into the backup spot while Rudolph is demoted to third-string. Lauten also noted that Mike Tomlin will address the new depth chart at his Tuesday press conference.
Who knows if Tomlin will touch on the QB changes. You’d think so, seeing that it’s the only major change to it. But either way, it’ll be Trubisky starting in Cincy vs. the Bengals in Week 1 across from Joe Burrow. Good luck, Pitt! They’ll need all they can get.

Pittsburgh Steelers name captains for the 2022 season
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced their team captains for the 2022 season through social media. They are Mitchell Trubisky, Najee Harris, Cam Heyward, Miles Killebrew, and TJ Watt.
Several of these selections make sense. TJ Watt is one of the best defensive players in football. Meanwhile, Najee Harris is expected to be a workhorse for the offense. For his part, Cam Heyward has been a long-term, veteran presence for Pittsburgh.
Of course, no surprise that Mitchell Trubisky earned a captain’s role, given that he is officially the QB1 for Pittsburgh as they open the season. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a team in the NFL that doesn’t name its quarterback a captain. After all, the position really serves as the captain of the entire offense. Would be alarming not to name the guy in that position as a leader of the team.
