2024 Oklahoma State football season marked the transition away from “Cowboy Back” back toward a traditional tight end. It’s been a frustrating position for many fans over the years due to underrutilization. That should change in Doug Meacham’s offense and is reflected in the players they brought in from the NCAA Transfer Portal.

OUT:  Tabry Shettron (retired)

IN: Jr. Will Money (Utah State), Sr. Oscar Hammond (UCO/North Texas), Fr-HS Jordan Vyborny (Corner Canyon HS Utah)

Returning: Soph. Josh Ford, R-Sr. Quinton Stewart

Ford among few returners for Oklahoma State

Yesterday’s news on the Cowboys announcing their representatives for Big 12 Media Days including Josh Ford highlights how few players Oklahoma State has returning in the two-deep on either side of the ball. The 6-6, 255-pound Stillwater native was among few bright spots for OSU last season. Ford played in all 12 games, starting six as a true freshman. He had 10 catches for 92 yards and one touchdown.

Quinton Stewart also returns for his final season as a super senior. He will likely continue his role as primarily a blocking TE and on special teams.

New Cowboy Tight Ends

Collinsville, Okla. native Oscar Hammond joins the Pokes by way of the University of Central Oklahoma and North Texas. As a sophomore at UCO in 2023, Hammond blew up as a receiving threat. His 33 catches for 463 yards were both second on the team and his four receiving touchdowns tied for first. In his one season at UNT, he tallied 19 catches for 238 and one score. He brings 10 games and six starts at the FBS level with him.

Will Monney played two seasons for the Aggies. He played in 22 games and started one. Most of his receiving was done as a sophomore last season, where he had 11 catches for 138 yards and one score.

Vyborny suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his final high school season and will likely start fall camp still in the rehab process. Expect a redshirt season here.
