Wisconsin Badgers guard Johnny Davis is off the board in the 2022 NBA Draft. With the No. 10 pick of the first round, Davis was selected by the Washington Wizards.

Spending two seasons with the Badgers, Davis was a consensus first-team All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year during the 2021-2022 season. He led the Badgers to a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament before bowing out in the Round of 32 against Iowa State.

Scoring is where Davis will be the most effective in the NBA, averaging 19.7 points per game his sophomore season. He was also solid on the glass, grabbing just over eight rebounds a night. Davis played through a tough Big Ten on a nightly basis, showcasing he is ready for the next level.

Scouting report on Johnny Davis

Back before the NCAA Tournament wrapped up, ESPN Draft analyst Jonathan Givony scouted Davis, comparing him to Jalen Suggs. He said NBA teams first noticed the Wisconsin star during the Maui Invitational due to a couple of key factors.

Add in the elite scoring and Davis was projected to be a high pick in the first round. His dreams came to fruition on Thursday night thanks to the Wizards.

“Drawing comparisons from NBA scouts to Jalen Suggs, the No. 5 pick in the 2021 draft, Davis has rebounding, defensive versatility, and toughness that put him on NBA radars early on as Wisconsin defeated Houston to win the Maui Invitational in November, with Davis scoring 30 points in the final and winning MVP honors,” Givony said.

“He continued to shoulder a heavy scoring load for the Badgers in Big Ten play, emerging as his team’s primary ball-handler and one of the best pick-and-roll and midrange scorers in college basketball, while hitting 37 3-pointers and 155 free throws in 31 games.”
