The 2022 NFL Draft is just a fortnight away. Several teams are currently weighing options for the future of their organization at quarterback, including the Carolina Panthers. ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay recently discussed which of the potential first-round quarterbacks the Panthers are more likely to go after on night one between Pitt’s Kenny Pickett and Liberty’s Malik Willis.

“Carolina at 6, Atlanta at 8, Seattle at 9. After picks from 10-19, none of those teams need a quarterback. I don’t think the quarterbacks are dropping, I think they’re going where they should go which is middle of the first round range,” McShay said on First Draft. “If one goes in the top 10, … I personally think it could be Pickett because of the ties that they have with Matt Rhule at Carolina. Matt Rhule’s trying to win right away to save his job, Kenny Pickett with the 49 stars, more ready than Malik Willis is at this point. Heck, Matt Rhule recruited Pickett when he was the head coach at Temple. I think Pickett is probably the more likely of the two to go in the top 10 even though I have Willis one spot ahead on the overall draft board.”

McShay has also argued that the former Pitt Panthers star is the more polished quarterback.

“Kenny Pickett is just more mechanically sound,” McShay said on the debate between Pickett and Willis. “You can see the 49 starts in his movements, you can see it on tape and certainly with his processing quickness. But you watch that workout and I was impressed. I think I underrated his arm strength based on the velocity he had on the ball, not just driving it vertically 67, 68 yards, but also on the intermediate throws. So he had a great showing yesterday (at his pro day).”

Las Vegas releases draft odds, favorites for No. 1 overall pick

Trevor LawrenceJoe BurrowKyler MurrayBaker MayfieldMyles Garrett — who’s next? With the 2022 NFL Draft getting closer by the day, Vegas Insider revealed their odds for the No. 1 overall selection, choosing their favorite to walk across the stage first.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the No. 1 pick for the second straight season, hoping to build a foundation that’ll lead them to success in the coming seasons.

After a monstrous season at Michigan, pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson is favored to be the selection. Hutchinson would be the first non-quarterback to be selected first overall since Myles Garrett went first in the 2017 NFL Draft, joining elite company. However, he isn’t without competition. According to Vegas Insider, Georgia‘s Travon Walker has a good shot at being the pick, as well.

Still, nothing’s final until the card is turned in — you never know where Jacksonville will turn. Here’s who Vegas Insider believes has the best chance at being the first player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.
