The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff standings after the drivers competed in the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. This was the first race of the Round of 8, meaning we are getting closer to the championship race.

Denny Hamlin won on Sunday, and there are now two more races for the remaining playoff drivers to clinch a spot in the Championship 4. Here’s a look at the updated NASCAR playoff standings after Las Vegas.

RankDriver Playoff Points
1Denny HamlinWin
2Kyle Larson+35
3Christopher Bell+20
4Chasr Briscoe+15
5William Byron-15
6Chase Elliott-23
7Joey Logano-24
8Ryan Blaney-31

With Hamlin winning on Sunday, he has clinched in spot in the championship race. Additionally, Hamlin reached his 60th career victory in the Cup Series, and he was very emotional when the race came to an end.

“Definitely means a lot,” Hamlin said. “This is the point where I usually give the fans some sh*t but not today. I appreciate all of you so much. Obviously want to say hi to my dad, family back at home, all the friends that came out here hoping we get 60. I didn’t think we were. Just put the pedal down those last 10 laps and made it happen. Chris [Gayle] did an amazing job on that final stop getting the car just right. I just held it down. It’s all I could do just to go for it. Feels great.”

More on the NASCAR Playoff standings after Las Vegas

Kyle Larson is right behind Hamlin in the standings, as he’s 35 points above the cut line. He is looking to win his second career Cup title after winning it all in 2021. Christoper Bell and Chase Briscoe are the last two drivers above the cut line, and both drivers are seeking their first championships.

William Byron, who won this year’s regular season title, is the first driver below the cut line. He had a strong run at Las Vegas but was caught in the wreck with 30 laps remaining. Chase Elliott is right behind Byron and will likely need to win one of the next two races to clinch a slot in the championship race.

The two Team Penske drivers — Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney — are at the bottom of the standings. This is a very interesting spot for the duo, as they have won the last three Cup Series championships. Logano won it all in 2022 and 2024, and Blaney claimed the title in 2023.
